Our World Irish Aid Awards Flyer Autumn 2011 1.1 MiB

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

This year’s theme “Caring for the Planet, Feeding Our World” links the issues of environmental care with combating extreme hunger in the world. These awards enable your pupils to focus on these issues in a way that most interests them and to examine it in relation to the future welfare of children across the developing world. We hope that, by participating in this project, pupils will deepen their understanding of these critical issues, and find creative ways of communicating what they have learnt to a wider audience. Over the seven years that these awards have been running, we have found that Irish pupils care about these issues and want to find out more.

 Getting involved is easy!

 1.     Register to receive a full project pack including posters and teacher resources.

2.     Using your registration pack materials and those available on the website, encourage your pupils to explore the lives of children in other countries.

3.     Create a project that demonstrates what your pupils have learnt – the projects can be as simple or involved as you like…be as creative as possible, their only limit is their imagination!

4.     Send in your projects to us and who knows… your school may achieve the Our World Irish Aid Schools plaque for Global Awareness and your school might be invited to attend a prize giving Awards Ceremony and exhibition with the Minister of State for Trade and Development next February in Dublin.

Log on to our website www.irishaid.gov.ie/ourworld for excellent teaching resources for your school.
