(Seismeolaíocht sa Scoil)

 Pilot Programme

The Seismology in Schools (Seismeolaíocht sa Scoil) outreach pilot programme was introduced by the Dublin Institute for Advanced studies to 50 primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland in 2007.

Two West Cork Schools have participated in this programme.

Using the seismometer and associated software distributed in this programme, Students are able to record and study earthquakes using a seismometer and associated software supplied by the programme. Students monitor the performance of the seismometer daily. West Cork Schools have recorded seismic activity from around the world since joining this programme in 2007.
